David and Katherine met while attending Iowa State University and quickly became friends through silly jokes, sword fights during class, and writing haiku conversations instead of doing their homework. Their friendship bloomed into something more serious just before leaving for Hawaii to study abroad, which drew them even closer together. After graduation their adventurous spirits moved to Colorado, but after two years they knew the midwest was their true home and moved to Minnesota with their lab, Bella. In August David proposed with their new puppy Koda and they began planning their greatest adventure together.
Their wedding adventure began with a gondola ride up the mountain top at Lutsen and an outdoor ceremony on the deck. If you’ve been there you know that the view is amazing but this day in particular it was so foggy we couldn’t see past the deck. During their ceremony Pastor Loren said “A wedding in the clouds is one that starts in heaven” and it felt just that, heavenly. Being landscape architects, they skipped the sand and decided to plant a tree together, but not just any tree. It’s a tree that can survive through any storm, symbolizing their marriage.
Congrats Katherine and David! We are so happy for you both and wish you all the happiness in the world!
