Last weekend we went wheels up to Boston, a city we’ve been eyeing for quite some time. Mainly because of the history (I’m a history buff) and my husbands love for the TV show Cheers, where everyone knows your name. They didn’t happen to know our names at Cheers but we did meet a nice Bostonian man with a thick Boston accent which we later tried to teach Deegan. (For the record, he nailed it, parenting win!)

If you’ve ever been to Boston you know how amazing Mikes Pastry’s are and oh boy did they live up to their name! I can’t say I’ve ever had a cannoli before but I imagine they have the best, SO GOOD! The freedom trail was so interesting especially seeing the State House (where the Declaration of Independence was read in 1776!) and several other locations that date back into the 1600’s. If you’re wondering about the photo of the Omni Parker House, thats where JFK proposed to Jackie and you know how much I love a good love story so I had to document being there! 🙂 The Boston Tea Party site was SO interesting and they have tea samples of the teas that were thrown overboard that night, for the record, they are SO good. There is also an interactive tour there to take you through the start of the American Revolution. We didn’t have time to do it but it looked really fun and we’re hoping to take Deegan one day.

Harvard was really fun to visit because of the history, but there isn’t much you can do there because of the high security. No buildings are open to the public so you can really only walk around outside and check out the buildings where incredible people went to school including many US presidents (even our first!). A security guard showed us were Mark Zuckerberg stayed and where Facebook was started. Now thats not founding fathers history but I’d say it’s a big deal! (Shout out to Mark for keeping us connected!) We also found out that Malia Obama had just moved in so we kept an eye out for her, but no luck bumping into her.

Boston was a a fun trip and the people are incredibly nice! If you’re looking for a weekend getaway thats not crazy expensive, check it out! The history and food are hard to beat!

’til next time,

Kirsten
