Well, we just got back from spending the weekend in Key West to celebrate a milestone birthday for myself. turning 30! I don’t know how that happened because I feel like I just turned 20 last week! My 20’s were good to me but I’m excited to move on to new adventures in my 30’s!

This was my third time to the beautiful island of Key West! I really love it there, the weather is warm and sunny, the food is amazing, the people are so nice and there is a lot of history! If you have followed my adventures you know I love history and there is so much to learn in the Keys.

On our drive down the Keys we stopped at one of our favorite spots, Theater of the Sea. It’s a fun place to visit with family and get an up close view of sea turtles and dolphins! We were bummed to see that Hurricane Irma destroyed a good portion of the park but the staff is working hard to fix it up and make it even better than before! If you ever get a chance to stop here, make sure to check out the dolphin show, its very impressive!

During this visit we stayed at Ocean Key Resort which I highly recommend. The staff at Ocean Key made us feel so comfortable and the food in the restaurant was to die for. Corn flake crusted french toast with cinnamon butter and crab cake benedict for breakfast was the perfect start to our days, so yummy!

On Monday (my actual birthday) Billy brought me snorkeling out on the 3rd biggest reef in the world! (I’ve been to the 2nd biggest in Belize, next stop, the Great Barrier!) After we passed snorkel training, we hopped off the boat to check out the sea life. Because it’s January the water was incredibly cold (it’s much more enjoyable in March) but we toughed it out, saw a few fish and Billy saw a sting ray! The best part of the day was unwinding on the boat with Billy, a little champagne and the beautiful Florida sunset.

The rest of the trip was spent hanging by the pool, shopping and going out on Duval Street at night. I couldn’t thank my husband enough for surprising me with this trip and being so thoughtful. It was the perfect mix of belly laughs, sunshine and enough carbs to get me through to July! 😉
