Belize Day 1

Today was the longest day of travel ever.  We had two flights that were 3 hours each. Between flights we had a long layover in Dallas. It was actually a nice break from flying. The landing into Belize City was rough and abrupt. We unloaded the plane outside where we felt the hot and humid air. It’s so humid here! Once we landed in Belize City all of us loaded our things unto an old school bus for our ride to Punta Gorda. On the way we stopped for dinner at Cheers which looked like a Mexican style restaurant. It was all open to air and there was a buffet ready for us with amazing fresh food for tacos. It was so fresh and even the tortillas were handmade by the sweet ladies working. They also made us fresh lemonade that was so refreshing. I finally understand how Kristin Wig felt drinking the lemonade in Bridesmaids. It was that good. The bus ride brought us through some very undeveloped neighborhoods showing a much different lifestyle than you and I are used to. It’s quite a reminder to be thankful.

I am so tired and missing my boys. I am looking forward to learning about the city and seeing the hospital tomorrow.
